Iris Experience

This is some artwork we produced, pitching on a job for Iris Experiance. We were going to build a basic chair and then create the features in 3D, but the client wanted everything to be physically built.

M-I-E Design Reel 2011

Tuesday, 7 June 2011

The dragon has been designed numerous times.
These are some of the early stage sketches, to find ‘our own’ dragon design.

Detail design of the dragon’s head to ensure the 3D team could model it accurately.

Styleframes were carefully crafted to be used as reference for the rendering stage.

The dragon’s action was designed to be played on a loop and we developed these boards to help the animators with the blocking.

George Michael – True Faith

Monday, 21 March 2011

These two styleframes were our starting point.

Afterwards we started sketch-studies for the character designs, taking inspiration from the Bauhaus Triadic ballet.

We then further developed the styleframes for the entire sequence. Here is a selection.

These are the studies which helped us storyboard some of the smoke-forming scenes.

We then choreographed the dance movements, motion-captured them, and translated them into a computer model, from which we produced the dancing scenes.

A special thanks to Samantha Lewis for the choreography and dancing.

Real Heroes

“MIE are awesome. They illustrated true stories from the front lines in Afghanistan for our book, ‘Real Heroes’. They did a fantastic job – the artwork was stunning, immediate and powerful, and perfect for the readership we are hoping to reach with the book. Totally professional and unflappable even as the pressure mounted, they delivered a really terrific body of work.”

Faithless – Not Going Home

Thursday, 20 May 2010

Here’s some of the artwork we’ve done for Faithless. These are the covers for the album and first single, the next two single covers are being worked on as this is being written.

There are six of these roaming the streets of London now…

Dig out your glasses! We also did a stereoscopic version. Here is EB making it work…

… and you can watch here:

The trouble with animation is, you can’t just write a treatment and attach a mood board! Here are all the style frames we submitted before we won “Not Going Home”.

Here are some initial sketches from EB, certificate 18!

Thanks to Shan, John Keates, Paul Simon, and Tom Geraedts for all their hard work.

Our friends at Great Guns asked us to help with a charity viral for Nike.
We thought it would be a great opportunity to do a bit of stop motion…
